Certainly, the image of Jesus as Shepherd and His people as His sheep is familiar to many. Yet how often do we stop to appreciate the love of our Good Shepherd? Today we are reminded that what makes true shepherds in God’s kingdom are their relationship to Christ, the Good Shepherd, who is the only gate for the sheep. Hail the King who humbly comes to save us. The time of Christ's glory has come, but it will be a glory found in humility as Jesus humbles Himself to save us. Ultimately, He is exalted as the One whose lowly obedience has saved humanity from sin and death. We see this humility and lowly obedience in Jesus' choice of animal to ride into Jerusalem.
